Bob and Carol have been donating to Boys & Girls Clubs of America for years through outright gifts of appreciated stock. Recently, Bob and Carol changed their wills to include a bequest that will perpetuate their annual giving so that Boys & Girls Clubs of America can continue to provide our nation's youth with much-needed programs and services.

Carol: "We believe so strongly in the good work that Boys & Girls Clubs of America does each and every day that we wanted to make sure that we could continue making a difference for future generations long after our passing. But we had no idea about the personal satisfaction our gift would bring us."

Bob: "I can't describe how good it feels to sit with some of the young people who have benefited from our generosity over the years, to hear them describe their dreams and ambitions and how we've helped. What a joy to realize that we have become a part of the organization's future and that the people involved with it have become a part of our family."

Carol: "It gives me goose bumps just to think about it."

Setting all the emotional rewards aside, Bob and Carol made a wise financial move. First, there are some immediate tax benefits based not on the cost of the stock, but on its appreciated value. In addition, there are long-term tax benefits because charitable bequests can reduce estate taxes.
