JCPenney CEO Honored
During a spirited celebration at
BGCA’s recent Southwest
regional dinner, the 2003 Chairman’s Award was presented
to Vanessa Castagna, chairman and CEO of JCPenney stores,
catalog and Internet, in recognition of her effort to improve
educational opportunities for our
nation’s youth and continued advocacy of the JCPenney
Afterschool Fund. The Chairman’s Award recognizes individuals
who have placed service above self and made a positive difference,
particularly in the lives of children.
“The JCPenney Afterschool Fund is committed to provide
children with high-quality, affordable after-school programs
that help
them reach their full potential,” Castagna said. “I
am thrilled that the fund’s team and store managers
nationwide have enjoyed building strong and lasting relationships
over
the last four years. We look forward to further strengthening
support for our after-school homework assistance program,
Power Hour: Making Minutes Count.”
