Arts programs enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing. Studies have shown that at-risk students who have access to the arts in or out of school also tend to have better academic results, better workforce opportunities, and more civic engagement.

With a mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, BGCA is in a unique position to provide access to arts programming, plus the guidance needed to help develop new skills and foster creativity, for youth who might not otherwise have access to these opportunities.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is proud to partner with Fiskars to provide more opportunities for Boys & Girls Club members to participate in arts programming.

Artist of the Month
Each month, one Boys & Girls Club member will be recognized by BGCA and Fiskars as the Artist of the Month. The young artist receives a savings bond, and their local Club receives a grant to support arts programming. Each month, the Artist of the Month contest presents Club members with a new theme around which to build their artwork.

Arts & Crafts Activities
High Yield Activities (HYA) often referred to as “fun with a purpose,” promote friendship, teamwork and leadership. At BGCA, our high-yield activities are designed to provide Club members with fun experiences that are hands-on, interactive and intentionally develop critical thinking or other skills. BGCA has worked with Fiskars to create activities that all Clubs may use to inspire, educate and engage youth. Direction for creative new projects will be available each month on the Artist of the Month site.
