Cartoon Network’s Stop Bullying: Speak Up and Move It Movement

Longstanding BGCA partner Cartoon Network provides tools and resources for Club members, staff and educators to help families promote bullying prevention and to battle childhood obesity.

Cartoon Network works with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to embrace key social issues affecting families with solution-oriented initiatives such as Stop Bullying: Speak Up and Move It Movement.

Stop Bullying: Speak Up (SB:SU) is an award-winning, multi-platform pro-social initiative launched in October 2010 that focuses on motivating bystanders to speak up and help prevent bullying. Stop Bullying: Speak Up works to send a clear message to its national viewership and others that bullying is unacceptable and that there are safe, effective ways young people can make a difference.

Campaign resources made available to BGCA members, staff and parents include tip sheets, videos, testimonials, Q&A with experts, educator guides; all available at StopBullyingSpeakUp.com at no charge.

Move It Movement (MIM) was created In an effort to empower kids by providing tools to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Working with key partners including The President’s Council on Fitness, CATCH and in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, Move It Movement tours the country with a series of events. Online educational materials are available at MoveItMovement.com, and ongoing promotional support is enlisted from partnering organizations—including BGCA.

The MIM Tour kicks off each year on the heels of National Physical Fitness & Sports Month (May) to travel the summer months coast-to-coast to prime family locations in multiple major markets. Free to all families, the MIM Tour presents a themed, exciting and fun outdoor environment featuring activity and learning stations, incorporating skill challenges for favorite sports such as basketball, football, soccer, and golf. Families leave with printed materials designed to encourage ongoing activity and access to information resources.

With more than 15 years of partnership with BGCA, Cartoon Network continues to help educate, entertain, encourage and empower kids across the country with tools and resources that address and help answer key lifestyle concerns.
