Blockbuster
Blockbuster
believes stronger families and communities are achieved by investing in
tomorrow's leaders – today's youth. In support of this belief, Blockbuster, a
longtime advocate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), is a founding sponsor
of BGCA's Boys & Girls Clubs Day for Kids, an annual event that encourages
adults to spend meaningful time with kids. Since 1999, Blockbuster has donated
more than $8.4 million to support the national efforts of BGCA and programs and
activities in local Boys & Girls Clubs.
As part of this year’s support, Blockbuster is launching an in-store promotion
from Sept. 12 to Oct. 9. Participating Blockbuster stores will support BGCA and
local Boys & Girls Clubs by donating proceeds from the sale of $1 stickers from
the hit movie Over the Hedge.
For
each new subscription to
Blockbuster Online, the entertainment giant’s subscription based mail-in movie
rental service, Boys & Girls Clubs of America will receive $1.50 each month.
Online customers can choose from 50,000 titles, with movies delivered right to
your door – and you mail the DVDs back for free. Supporters can sign up through
a
special
BGCA online subscription site.
Blockbuster's assistance has also reached individual Clubs throughout the
country. The company has sponsored various Club events; established Club video
libraries through numerous video contributions; and created media centers
through donated game hardware and rental cards.
