Success – Against All Odds

All too often, young people can succumb to challenges that prevent success – gangs, drugs, crime and dropping out of school. But some grow up to become successful against all odds. They show us that anything is possible – and encourage others to be the best they can be.

Such great achievements are seen in this year’s Alumni Hall of Fame inductees. Every year, Boys & Girls Clubs of America honors outstanding alumni by inducting them into its Hall of Fame. As youth, they took advantage of the resources and opportunities presented at their Clubs and launched thriving careers. With this foundation, the former Club kids learned to believe in themselves and grew up to reach their full potential. In fact, their Club experience played such an important role in their lives that, as adults, every one of them has given back to their Clubs while reaching out to the generations that follow.

You can read about their incredible journeys to success in this issue of The Positive Place. But as you read, think about how, for every inductee, there are thousands of former Club members who are equally successful at what they do, and just as important. They are at the core of some of the most thriving communities in America.
