Tests the strength and endurance of the body's "core," especially back and abdominal muscles.
Count the number of sit-ups completed in
one minute (60 seconds)
Competitor crosses his/her arms, places hands on opposite shoulders and holds elbows close to the chest. Keeping the arm position, the competitor raises his/her trunk, curling up to touch elbows to thighs. The shoulders must roll back and make contact with the ground to conclude each sit-up. A competitor may ask to have his/her feet held during this event.
IF A COMPETITOR FAILS TO KEEP HANDS FIRMLY AGAINST THE CHEST WITH THE ARMS CROSSED, THE SIT-UP WILL NOT COUNT. IF A COMPETITOR FAILS TO TOUCH ELBOWS TO THE THIGHS, THE SIT-UP WILL NOT COUNT. IF THE SHOULDERS DO NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE MOVEMENT, THE SIT-UP WILL NOT COUNT.
