2006 Financial Year in Review
During 2006, Boys & Girls Clubs of America marked its Centennial with the
opening of its 4,000th Boys & Girls Club! Also during that year, actor Denzel
Washington, BGCA's spokesperson, added "author" to his list of accomplishments
with the release of A Hand to Guide Me, a compilation of touching stories
about the importance of mentors. It was an exciting end to our first 100 years
of service to our nation's youth.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America's efficient use of financial resources has won national recognition. In its latest "Philanthropy 400" report,
The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked Boys & Girls Clubs of America number one among youth organizations for the
12th consecutive year, and number 16 among all nonprofit organizations.

of the Best Charities Everyone's Heard Of" list. On a scale of 0 to
70, derived by assessing organizational efficiency and capacity, BGCA received
an overall score of 68.85 from
