Al Roker got his first sense of community at the Brownsville Boys Club in Brooklyn. The renowned weather anchor began broadcasting in 1974 while still in college, going on to report for the Weather Channel, News Channel 4, and NBC’s TODAY show. The three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner has covered some of history’s worst storms and natural disasters live, such as Hurricane Wilma, Hurricane Isaac and the earthquake in Haiti. He’s also set multiple Guinness World Records through “Rokerthon,” raised millions for small charities in the U.S with “Lend a Hand Today,” and is a best-selling author of 13 books.
