Earvin “Magic” Johnson

Lansing, Michigan

NBA Player/Entrepreneur

Earvin Johnson joined the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing, Michigan at the age of 12. It was there he had his first experience with professional sports, attending Detroit games. His favorite thing to do in the Club was play basketball and shoot pool. Earvin exemplifies the influential impact Boys & Girls Clubs can make on young lives. A desire to give back led him to establish and chair the Magic Johnson Foundation, dedicated to the development of programs and supporting services to address educational, health and social needs in ethnically diverse, urban communities. In his New York Times bestseller, “32 Ways to be a Champion in Business,” Johnson offers detailed advice, real-world expertise and the enthusiasm of a natural born entrepreneur who has pioneered unprecedented economic development in long-neglected urban communities.
