Boys & Girls Clubs of America joins the rest of the country in our shock about the horrible tragedy that took place in Alexandria, Virginia, earlier today. Our thoughts and prayers are with all injured, especially the U.S. Capitol Police officers and Majority Whip Steve Scalise, who has been a true champion for Clubs and America's youth for years. We wish him and all others who were injured a full and speedy recovery, and thank the U.S. Capitol Police and security details, Alexandria PD, and all first responders for their heroic efforts today.

For decades, Clubs have been a beneficiary of the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity. Everyone who was practicing for that game on the field this morning is a member of the Boys & Girls Club family. The Congressional Baseball Game for Charity has been a special national tradition for more than 100 years, where our country's leaders put aside their political differences for a few hours of friendly competition, just as they do for Clubs and kids every day. Boys & Girls Clubs join all Americans in offering our continued support for everyone affected by this disturbing event.
