In 2022, Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) joined Boys & Girls Clubs of America as a national supporting partner for Healthy Habits, a program designed to incorporate healthy living and active learning in every part of the Club Experience. FMC supports Healthy Habits and hosts events at Clubs throughout the country to help educate members on preventing chronic illness, including kidney disease.
Through 2023, at 30 select Boys & Girls Clubs, FMC staff will help make health and wellness fun through custom programming. FMC employee volunteers introduce youth to Fresenius Medical Care’s Kidney Kid, an edutainment program for youth and their caregivers to teach the importance of kidney health.
FMC volunteers spend time with Club youth discussing the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and exercising and recommending other healthy actions to keep their kidneys healthy. Club participants also complete challenges in activity books, play digital Kidney Kid games, enjoy healthy snacks, and participate in fun physical activities. Kids and Clubs love the events and continue asking for more!
“Taking care of our kidneys is important and we can start now.”
