Southface Institute
Southface Institute is partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) to identify and recruit Boys & Girls Clubs to employ resource efficiency and solar energy — reducing utility costs and investing those savings in their mission and communities.
Bringing GoodUse to Boys & Girls Clubs
Southface’s GoodUse program helps nonprofit organizations reduce utility costs and reinvest those savings into their communities. Since 2008, Southface has helped more than 575 nonprofits across the nation reduce utility bills and improve occupant health through energy and water efficiency and indoor air quality upgrades.
In collaboration with Southface, BGCA is working towards educating Clubs about the advantages of investing in resource efficiency and solar energy by identifying Clubs eligible to apply for the GoodUse program. Once the program participants are selected, Southface performs building assessments, develops implementation plans, and provides expert technical guidance and quality assurance through in-progress and post-installation inspections. Over the decade partnership with BGCA, the GoodUse program has provided technical guidance and funding to 45 Clubs for 79 projects which saved Clubs over $350,000 in annual utility savings, an average of 31% reduction.
