Cooking is fun to be had and a skill to be learned in these newly-renovated kitchens at Boys & Girls Clubs, thanks to Knorr.

Cooking Up New Skills: Clubs Enjoy New Kitchens with Knorr

Boys & Girls Clubs are committed to providing nutritious meals and snacks that keep Club members fed, fueled and focused.

Thanks to national partner Knorr, three Boys & Girls Clubs received refreshed community kitchens with updated appliances.  refreshed cabinets and counters, new sinks, and fresh coats of paint. These new kitchen spaces will feed young bellies and teach valuable life skills to youth members.

“This is a real gift,” says Cynthia M. Banks, VP of Operations at Boys & Girls Club of Newark. “When the youngsters saw this, they couldn’t believe it. The expressions on their faces — is this really our kitchen? Having this kitchen not only gives us a way of serving our Club members properly, but we can also use it as a teaching kitchen, where chefs and parents can come in and do mini classes with our youngsters.”

To unveil the kitchen refreshes, the Knorr Chef led cooking classes at all three clubs, teaching youth members how to prepare delicious and nutritious recipes.

“My experience was very new! I learned how to work my way around the kitchen,” said a Club member  from Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Greater East Valley. He and several other Club members who participated in the cooking class were excited and inspired to go home and try cooking in their own kitchen for their family and friends.

“Kitchens are a big part of Boys & Girls Clubs. We have more than 5,200 Clubs across the country and around the globe serving meals to youth every day,” said Ameer Washington, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Newark.

In their third year of partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Knorr is committed to making wholesome food accessible and affordable to all by continuing to build more nutritious foundations for our communities. The renovated Clubs included locations in Burbank, California; Independence, Missouri; and Newark, New Jersey.

"We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to work with Knorr on our shared goal of making a positive impact in the lives of your youth and their families," said Shanna Warren, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Burbank and Greater East Valley.
