Jasmnika N.

2014-15 Midwest Youth of the Year

Club/Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Benton Harbor
Length of Membership: 7 Years
College/University: Michigan State University
Major: Communications and Media Studies
Career Aspiration: To work with underprivileged teens

"To lead, succeed or inspire, one must be aware of their personal AND professional brand. By keeping my actions in line with my beliefs and sharing my story with others, I hope to inspire someone out there like me to have a great future!"

Raised by a single parent, Jasmnika took a leadership role in her household at a young age. When she was in 10th grade, she saved her money and purchased a car so she could take her younger brother to school in the morning while their mother went to work. Jasmnika’s commitment to greatness extends to her academic pursuits. She was voted senior class president and salutatorian, and was the first member of her family to attend college.

As a way to rally against teen violence and bullying, Jasmnika organized a student-led peace rally and peace walk at Benton Harbor High School.
