“The greatest returns come from investing in others and investing in ourselves.”
After family struggles led to homelessness, Sharnae suffered from insecurities. She started attending her local Boys & Girls Club three years ago, and it made a quick impact. She took a volunteer job in the Club’s kitchen where she provided meals to Club members. She described it as a privilege, understanding that it was sometimes the last meal of the day members would receive.
Sharnae’s involvement at the Club helped her build confidence and discover her passion for helping others. In fact, she created a new program at her Club called “Pearls of Elegance” to help girls boost their self-esteem. Through the program, girls learn strategies to help manage everyday challenges.
Sharnae’s vision for America’s youth is to live in a world where cyberbullying doesn’t exist. Sharnae is starting her freshman year at South Georgia State College, with plans to become an educator and eventually start her own school.
