Dollar Tree and Boys & Girls Clubs of America are partnering to empower Club youth to create positive change in their communities by giving them the resources, opportunities, and support to positively impact the world around them.
Open the Door to Creating Change
With Dollar Tree’s support, Boys & Girls Club kids nationwide are participating in advocacy programming that allows them to be a voice for their communities at local, state, and federal levels of government. Take a look at everything this year’s Dollar Tree Changemakers are doing to create meaningful impact in their communities.
Providing Essential Needs
Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties’ project is focused on combating local food insecurity. The youth started a community garden at their Club and have partnered with local organizations to get the food distributed. The Club youth also plan to advocate for long-term policy changes that prioritize food justice and equitable access to healthy food.
For their advocacy project, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada started ‘Clubhoused’ with a goal of supporting youth experiencing homelessness. The Club’s youth advocates are working to provide 50 local unhoused youth with hygiene kits, Club membership, and supportive resources to help unhoused youth thrive.
Summit for America's Youth
Each year, Boys & Girls Clubs of America offers Club youth the opportunity to participate in the premier youth advocacy event, The Summit for America’s Youth. As the presenting sponsor, Dollar Tree provides key support that allows Club youth to sharpen their advocacy skills, showcase their local advocacy projects to fellow youth advocates, and share their stories with esteemed members of Congress on Capitol Hill.
Teen Town Halls
Across the country, Boys & Girls Clubs hosted teen town halls, youth-led sessions that allow teens to bring community members and local leaders together to advocate for the needs of their community.
