Statement on Meta Settlement from Jim Clark, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of America

We are aware of the recent news regarding this settlement and the broader efforts it reflects to promote the safety and well-being of young people. It is encouraging to see the recognition of after-school and summer programs as critical settings where these resources can be deployed to support the well-being of kids.

This funding underscores the essential role organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of America play in providing safe spaces, supportive relationships, and opportunities that help young people build confidence, develop critical skills, and realize their full potential to be future ready. It also will positively impact millions of young people and families in communities across the country.

At the same time, we recognize that this is an important step within a broader effort. Continued collaboration among policymakers, educators, families, community organizations, and technology companies will be necessary to ensure young people are safe, supported, and equipped with the skills, experiences, and opportunities they need to be ready for what’s next. We look forward to working with state attorneys general and other state leaders to better understand and deploy these resources in the years ahead.
