Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer

Lorraine Orr is Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). She leads field operations initiatives across the Boys & Girls Club Movement with a focus on organizational development for Clubs in Indian Country, rural, suburban and metro markets as well as ensuring a strong partnership between local Clubs and BGCA. She is responsible for advancing the outcomes of youth throughout the country, continuous quality improvement, and Club metrics through the work of the Youth Development teams, as well as ensuring the safety and protection of all children through the work of the Child Safety & Quality Assurance team. In addition, she oversees the teams that lead leadership development and talent management for local Clubs which focuses on professional roles, board volunteers and strategic partnerships and growth.

Lorraine provides direct support, counsel, information, and feedback to the National Area Council Committee. She drives significant national partnerships to advance BGCA’s mission, and works closely with other senior leaders to develop and execute key strategies and initiatives that drive organizational objectives.

Throughout her tenure, Lorraine has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to meaningfully engage in and benefit from Boys & Girls Clubs. It is this commitment that has underscored her leadership in the adoption of BGCA’s Inclusion Statement, the expansion in Indian Country and the development and execution of resources to support LGBTQ+ youth and youth with disabilities.

Lorraine is committed to the mental and emotional wellness of America’s youth and ensuring that Clubs create environments where young people experience safety, empowerment and healing. As such, she leads BGCA’s trauma-informed organizational strategy development, driving our efforts to become a trauma-informed Movement.

Lorraine joined BGCA in May 1997. She has held several field service roles, including Regional Vice President for the Southeast Region, and her most recent position of Senior Vice President, Field Operations. Prior to her work with BGCA, Lorraine was the Chief Professional Officer of the local Boys & Girls Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, and served in a number of other management positions in the area.

Lorraine’s leadership and commitment to youth has been recognized both locally and nationally. Among these honors is the coveted “Others” Award from The Salvation Army, which she received in 2015. She has also received Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Professional Service Award, The Boys & Girls Clubs Professional Association’s Contribution to the Profession Award for the Southeast Region, and the National W. Errol Sewell Leadership Award for Outstanding Leadership in Field Services. Lorraine was featured as a distinguished alumnus for outstanding achievement by Greensboro College in 2012 and was recognized with the 2018 Woman of Excellence Award by the Atlanta Tribune. Lorraine is also a member of the Duke University Fuqua School of Business CASE Advisory Council.

Lorraine holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Leisure Services from Greensboro College where she received an honorary doctorate of humane letters. She now serves as a member of the Greensboro College Board of Trustees. She also completed senior leadership programs at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and at Clemson University.
