Raytheon helped establish Centers of Innovation at BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations that serve military families. Youth work with dedicated Youth Center STEM staff and Raytheon employee-mentors to develop skills and critical thinking by using real-world applications for science, technology, engineering and math. Centers of Innovation provide an inspiring backdrop for programming that focuses on creative approaches to STEM.
BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on military installations bring consistency and continuity to the lives of military youth. On average, military families move six to nine times before their children graduate high school – about three times more often than civilian families. Through creative projects and evidence-based programming, young people can enhance their understanding of STEM, and strengthen skills in preparation for college, military and civilian careers. Centers of Innovation shape the leaders of tomorrow by providing them with the necessary skills to succeed and make an impact on their communities.
