Country Music Star Kane Brown Named “Champion of Youth”

Country music star Kane Brown not only sings from the heart but gives from it too by supporting great futures for kids and teens at Boys & Girls Clubs.

In recognition for his outstanding commitment to Club youth, Brown will receive Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s prestigious Champion of Youth Award at the 75th Annual National Youth of the Year Gala on Thursday, October 13, 2022. The Champion of Youth Award is bestowed to individuals for exhibiting above and beyond service to Boys & Girls Clubs. Previous recipients include NBA star Lebron James, entertainer Jennifer Lopez, Olympic champion Michael Phelps and the late former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Kane Brown’s love for Boys & Girls Clubs was ignited by a strong belief that all kids should have a safe place to go after school where people truly care about them. When considering his own childhood, Brown remarked that “he wished he would have had a Boys & Girls Club to attend.”

Brown recently made history as the first male country artist to perform at the VMAs in August of 2022, and has always had a passion for serving others. Last fall, he made a generous donation to support a full gymnasium renovation for Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio’s Broadway Club and joined the Club to celebrate the grand opening in February 2022. This past June, a group of teens from Boys & Girls Clubs in the Nashville area also received a special visit from Brown at the start of the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. And throughout his country music career, Brown demonstrates to Club youth the power of finding and sharing your unique voice – he dedicated his uplifting 2020 single “Worldwide Beautiful” to raising funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of America to advocate for justice and equality for young people.

He has provided Club members with life-changing experiences to help young people reach their full potential,” said Frank Sanchez, National Vice President of Business & Community Affairs, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “From his tremendous talent to his heart of gold, we look forward to presenting Kane Brown with the 2022 Champion of Youth Award next month, during our 75th Annual National Youth of the Year Gala in Los Angeles.”

The Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs of America's premier recognition program for Club teens and is the highest honor a Club member can receive. For 75 years, the Youth of the Year program and events have recognized young people for their outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America thanks Kane Brown for his unwavering commitment to providing safe places, caring mentors and life-enhancing programs to America’s young people.
