In one of the most dangerous cities in America, Dominique Wilkins found a safe place at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore. At the Club, he honed the skills that would eventually make him a nine-time NBA All-Star. Playing for the University of Georgia, Dominique earned the nickname “The Top Dog of Dunk.” In 1982, Dominique went pro. He led the Atlanta Hawks to eight play-offs in 12 seasons. Through it all, he relied on the lessons he learned at the Club – teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication. He earned yet another nickname, “The Human Highlight Film.” An Atlanta legend, Dominique is in the Basketball Hall of Fame and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. Today, he leads community initiatives for the Hawks, helping more kids build their own great futures.
