What kind of difference do you hope to make while being a part of BGCA’s National Youth Advisory Council?
The difference I want to make is to empower teen voices. I aim to share opinions that are true to who I am — opinions that can inspire and uplift communities. Through the YAC, I’m committed to making sure every voice is heard, valued and respected in all aspects. I want teens everywhere to know that no matter your race, culture or background, your voice matters and your opinions are valid.
What do you see as your biggest strength?
One of my greatest strengths — the quality that defines me most — is my confidence. From a young age, I’ve grown up with a clear sense of who I am and what I stand for. I carry a passion for the issues that matter, and I believe kindness should be shared everywhere, with everyone, in any setting. I always remain true to myself: confident, authentic and unapologetically me.
What do you enjoy most about your Club?
What I enjoy the most about my Club is the community I have built. The Club allows you to branch out to people you wouldn’t normally connect with. While in the Club, you’re practicing community-building skills that allow you to really get to know new people. The people at the Club make the Club, not only my fellow teens, but the staff. At my Club, I feel most supported by the staff around me, and I couldn’t ask for anything more.
